The four laws of behaviour change

we will see time and again how the four stage of cue craving response and reward influence nearly every things we do each day but before we do that we need to transform these four stage into a practical Framework that we can use to design good habit and eliminate bad ones.


I refer to this Framework as a four lows of behaviour change and it provide a simple set of rules for creating good habit and Breaking Bad once. you can think of each law as a lever that influences human behaviour when the lever are in the right position, creating good habit is effortless. when they are in wrong position, it is nearly impossible.




how to create good habit

The first law cue make it obvious.

The second law Craving make it attractive.

The third law response make it easy.

The force law (reward) make it satisfying.




we can convert in a word these law to learn to break a bad habit

inversion of the first law cue make it invisible.

inversion of second law of craving make is unattractive

inversion of the third law (response) make it difficult.

Inversion of the fourth law (Rewards) make it unsatisfying.



It would be is responsible for me to claim that these for an exhaustive Framework for changing any human behaviour but I think they are close as you will soon see the four low of behaviour change apply to nearly every field from spots to politics ar to medicine comedy to management these law can be used no matter what challenges you are facing there is no need for completely different Strategies for each habit.


Whenever you want to change your behaviour you can simply ask yourself:

how can I make it obvious?

how can I make it attractive?

how can I make it easy?

how can I make it satisfying ?
